Opening Reception for Group Art Exhibtion NOCTURNE & CATAWAMPUS at Arbor Gallery in Carmel, NY Saturday, Oct 17, 5-8PM
Nocturne & Catawampus
October 7 – November 1, 2026
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 17, 5-8 PM
This October, Arbor Gallery invites you into the strange, shadowy, and beautifully off-kilter world of Nocturne & Catawampus.
A nocturne is a work inspired by night, while catawampus means crooked, askew, or out of the usual order. Together, the theme inspired 37 artists to explore moonlight, shadow, folklore, unusual botanicals, curious creatures, altered perspectives, symbolism, and the wonderfully strange.
Throughout the exhibition, the gallery will also be screening a rotating selection of classic public-domain films and shorts, including silent cinema, expressionist films, cult favorites, and other wonderfully unusual selections chosen to complement the show. All screenings are free, with a full film schedule available from Arbor Gallery.
