Hidden in Plein Sight: Garrison Art Center Announces 2026 Auction
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hidden In Plein Sight: Our Hudson Valley
Annual Live Art Auction
Saturday, May 9, 2026
MARCH 25, 2026, GARRISON, NY— Garrison Art Center (GAC) invites art lovers, collectors, and the community to Hidden in Plein Sight, its Annual Live Art Auction on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the picturesque Garrison’s Landing along the Hudson River.
Hidden in Plein Sight: Our Hudson Valley reflects the idea that the most powerful sources of inspiration are often right in front of us. The auction showcases exceptional work while encouraging artists to engage deeply with the region’s landscape, from the Hudson River to its mountains, towns, and industrial past, long a source of creative influence.
This theme also speaks to GAC’s belief in access and openness: the arts, like the landscape, belong to everyone. The exhibition celebrates artists while affirming the Art Center’s commitment to providing space, opportunity, and visibility for all.
The Art Center’s largest fundraiser of the year, this lively afternoon features a curated selection of 40 works by regional artists. Guests are invited to discover and collect contemporary art inspired by the Hudson Valley while supporting Garrison Art Center’s mission to keep the arts accessible and vibrant in the community.
The event begins with a viewing reception and cocktail hour at 3 pm, where guests can preview the artwork before the live auction at 4 pm, led by renowned auctioneer Nicholas Lowry, President of Swann Galleries in New York City and a familiar face on Antiques Roadshow.
In addition to paintings, photographs, and works on paper, guests will have the chance to bid on special experiences, including the opportunity to commission a painter to create an original portrait of their home.
Tickets are $25 and include admission to the reception and auction, wine, hors d’oeuvres, and a bidding paddle. In addition to the auction, we will have an exciting raffle with special prizes — including a one‑year Explore Membership to the Museum of Modern Art, a private tour for two of Manitoga / The Russel Wright Design Center, and a scenic helicopter tour at one of Independent Helicopters’ upcoming 2026 events!
“This year’s auction celebrates the deep connections between art, the Hudson Valley, and the creative spirit of our community,” said Catherine Graham, Executive Director of GAC. “More than a showcase of the extraordinary work of local artists, this event is a crucial fundraiser that sustains our year-round programming. We invite everyone to support our mission by attending, donating, or simply spreading the word about this exciting celebration of art and community.”
Garrison Art Center highlights the importance of this spring event in support of local artists and GAC, now firmly established as one of the community’s most anticipated annual traditions. Set beneath an elegant tent overlooking the Hudson River, the afternoon brings together artists, collectors, and supporters for a festive celebration of art, place, and community.
