Great Hudson Estuary Fish Count

August 15, 2015 @ 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM EST

Free

Take part in a citizen science project and enjoy a mid- summer day by the river as the tide goes out! Join Erin Baker Teatown educator at the Kathryn W. Davis RiverWalk Center in Sleepy Hollow, seining for fish and other creatures in the warm waters of the Hudson. We will focus on identification and record and share the results with other sites taking part in the Great Hudon Fish Count. Also, join artists from Strawtown Studio and learn to make a mobile inspired by time at the river! Work with wire, strings, and the river grass phragmites to make a structure for hanging beautiful found beach objects: sea glass, shells, sand stones, driftwood. Attach an image of fish and aquatic life to remind you of the incredible diversity of life you would see if you could lift the lid off the river! For all ages, children under 8 will need parental assistance.
All welcome. Free, $5 parking fee. Programs require pre-registration. To register, call 914-762-2912 x 110.seining
