Winter & Spring Acting Opportunities for Children & Teens

Spotlight Arts announces winter/spring musical theatre workshops and acting classes for children and teens local to Brewster. Students can choose from a variety of our programs which all provide performance opportunities in a fun and positive learning environment.

The spring musical theatre workshop, Fiddler on the Roof Jr., meets on Tuesday evenings beginning February 6th and is designed for students ages 6 through 14. After 12 sessions, the end result is a full workshop production of the classic musical tale on Friday, May 4th. Students experience a full production with costumes, lighting, wireless microphones & scenery.

Weekly storytelling theater and improv classes are also available to students on Saturdays until the end of March. The two Saturday class offerings are separated by age and ability; storytelling theater is a perfect class for our youngest thespians ages 4-7 as they explore the basic fundamentals of theater and storytelling through guided exercises. Our improv class is a great option for students ages 8 and older who want to explore creative choices and acting on instinct through often comedic improvisational exercises.

Looking for some fun activities during this year’s spring break? Spotlight Arts’ spring break theater camp is a 3-day camp designed to provide light-hearted theatre and fun for ages 6 – 14. Students work on their acting, singing and dance skills while preparing for a cabaret performance including duets, solos & full company numbers from all different broadway and musical theatre hits. Students also engage in improv and comedy specials, dance, crafts and other theatre-related activities. The cabaret performance takes place on Day 3 at 3pm.

For students who are looking for a one-on-one experience, 30-minute private acting coaching sessions are also now available to students ages 6-18. Students can use private acting instruction to prepare for upcoming auditions, continue to enhance their acting skills, and direct their focus into detailed work in one or more specific areas: commercials, plays, musical theatre, TV/film. Students have the option to book by individual sessions or schedule a consistent weekly time slot for 10 consecutive weeks throughout the winter/spring season. Space is limited.
