Free Programs on Crafts, Story time, estate planning and Holiday Fun at Kent Library

Kent Library has many activities for children, teens and adults. Some programs require registration. You may register by going to or calling the Kent Public Library at 845-225-8585.  The library is located at 17 Sybil’s Crossing, Kent Lakes, NY 10512.

December Story Times

Join Miss Colleen at the Kent Public Library for  special December Story Times. The Snow Angel story time session, for children ages 1 month -24 months, will be held on Tuesdays, December 6th & 13th from 10:30am-11:00am. The Rowdy Reindeer Story time, for those  4 – 5 years old, will be held on Wednesdays, December 7th & 14th from 10:30am-11:30am. The Candy Cane story time, for children ages 2 – 3 years,  will be held on Thursdays, December 8th & 15th from 10:30am-11:00am. Come enjoy festive stories and crafts before the holidays. Registration is required. 

Earring Making Workshop Dec. 5

Joan Lloyd returns to the Kent Public Library on Monday, December 5th from 5:30 to 7:30 for an earring making workshop! Joan will teach you how to make your own one-of-a-kind beaded earrings. Make one pair of earrings for yourself and one to be contributed to a battered women’s
shelter. ​All the materials are supplied. Bring your creativity! This free program is for ages 10 & up! Registration is required.

Babysitting Workshop 12/10

Come to the Kent Public Library on Saturday, December 10th from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m for a Babysitiing Workshop! Parents entrust their child with the babysitter, therefore, it is crucial to know the basics of child care. In this introduction to babysitting course, students will learn interviewing tips, communication skills, ages and stages of young babies and toddlers, safety and first aid tips, and feeding and caring for children. A simple test will be administered at the completion of the course and certificates will be distributed. Amanda Tucker, the class instructor, holds a degree in Special Ed, Early Education and Child Psychology. Students should bring a notebook, pen and a lunch with them. For ages 10 and up. Registration is required. 


It is never to late in life to discover arts and crafts. On Monday, December 12th from 5:30-6:30, and following on every 3rd Thursday of the month, the Kent Public Library will hold crafts for adults. The November craft will be making your own sugar scrubs. Don’t miss out on the fun! Registration is required. You may register for the program.

Chanukah story and craft with Local Author Robin Cohen 12/13

Come to the Kent Library on Tuesday, December 13 at 4:45 pm to listen to a book by local author Robin Cohen! She will be reading her book “Searching for Chanukah in Frankfurt, Germany” We will also do a craft and enjoy Chanukah treats! All are welcome to listen to the story. Registration is required for the craft portion of the program. This is not a drop off program. 

Estate Planning 12/14

Do you have questions about your current financial estate? Do you need to review or update your current documentation? Join Mike Martin, Attorney at Law, at the Kent Public Library,Wednesday December 14thth from 6:30-7:30 pm. The discussion will include the topics of exposure to Medicaid, wills, living wills and health care proxies, probate expenses and more! This is a free event, open to the public. Registration is required.
